AMISPLACE

Streamlining booking to improve guest-host connections

Amisplace sought to minimize friction in their home booking process and foster more efficient connections between guests and hosts. My role was to help realize the MVP design for a streamlined, user-friendly booking flow within the private homesharing community.

Discover

Uncovering user pain points in the booking process

Through iterative analyses, I identified several issues with the booking process, such as inefficiencies, high cognitive load, and delays. These insights deepened my understanding of user difficulties and drove the need for improvements.

I conducted these analyses concurrently as we were implementing the list home flow redesign, enabling me to evaluate and refine subsequent designs based on new findings:

Define

Deprioritizing features toward an MVP

To ensure a timely and sensible implementation, I evaluated and prioritized features for an MVP. This process involved scaling down the design and focusing on critical elements while keeping forward compatibility in mind.

Develop

Designing a streamlined booking experience

I created a new booking flow that would address user needs and streamlined the process for both guests and hosts:

I adapted the designs throughout the process to account for changing requirements and user needs:

A steady increase in overlapping booking requests also prompted us to reevaluate the working design. While the feature benefits guests, it had been a source of frustration for hosts in the past.

Deliver

Iterating testing and cross-functional collaboration

Working closely with engineers, we aligned on implementing features that would enhance the user experience:

Continuous iterative testing enabled us to refine the design and make data-driven decisions, ensuring the final product addressed user pain points effectively.

Debrief

The future of booking on Amisplace

Throughout this project, I’ve honed my abilities in product strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and adapting to evolving requirements.

The latest designs are in the process of being implemented, but several areas could benefit from some additional consideration:

  • Iterative design improvements: Continuously refine the design based on usability testing, user feedback, and changing requirements if applicable

  • Implementation and monitoring: Closely track the site's performance, user engagement, and feedback post-implementation

  • Expanding features: Investigate additional features that could further enhance the booking experience, such as a trips/booking page or host approval/denial system

  • Native messaging integration: Assess the potential benefits of implementing native messaging to facilitate more seamless communication between hosts and guests
